This is no one’s upon a time
My earliest memory was a bleeding nose I was living in
Westbury carolling to the bath room and just pushed the door open then mom
pushed the door closed and my the door hit my nose
Mom was the accountant and dad a soccer player for Jomo cosmos.
Ok the only thing I can remember about him is his beard poking on my skin I
know I we travelled a lot coz I cunt remember any other place we stayed long
So the only place I always call home is in Westbury. then I
do ask my siblings does anyone know what happened to him they say they are not
sure me and my mother did go live with him then after some time me and my
mother just came back from Bloemfontein still to date know knowns what happened
my mother just told them that we not going back the and that was the last they
heard about him.
Then it’s just been me and mom traveling a lot there was
this weekend when chiefs and pirates playing soccer has always been a big thing
in our family we were in Eldorado Park watching the game with family and chiefs
lost then I was laughing coz chiefs lost the game then I got my 1st
real beating I remember everyone trying to tell her its just a game but she
didn’t hear anything they had to hide me under the double bank for her to cool
off
She felt so bad I think coz I could ask anything after. That
we were 12 siblings living in a 4 bed room but the was so much love coz I can’t
remember every hearing the grown-ups fighting or even arguing or maybe the kept
it under cover
Her is my first year day at Newclare primary school me and
my cozen toeter aka Theron everyone at home told us “julle bekly so baie vinday
kry julle julle kranker “me think to myself I’m going to look for the biggest
guy in the class and we going to fight even if I’m going to lose the rest of
the class will know leave him alone coz his crazy the hole day I was sitting in
a corner with pegs on my ears but as soon as the teacher left I’ll take off the
pegs and go fight again that time wrestling was the cool to know all the moves
July came that same
year I know I’ll never forget that day got home from school my mother was in a
rush not know what’s going on my mother just told me she left money for me at elain’s
house shop so I can go get whatever there she is coming back later then I take
a lot of chocolates for all my friend me waiting for her then to come back but
she never did it was getting late when in coz I was told as soon as the sun
sets make sure you are at home don’t let us come look for you if we do come
looking for you ,you must know we going to beat you from where we found you
till home .
Then about so 8h30 we had a knock
on the door me running to the door to check if her they guy just asked to see
my granny then my granny came asked him what’s up then he just said there is
something he need to show her she needs to just come with him she left with him
ok now I’m getting anger coz my mother doesn’t say she is coming now and take
so long I felt asleep on the couch someone token me to bed can’t remember who
woke up the next day I when to go pee in the outside drain next to the drain I
did see clothes full of blood and now m
stressed coz everyone is cry but no one is telling me what’s going until I
asked who’s clothes that is in the yard my aunty said to me Mother is no longer with us ..
I didn’t understand at that time what’s
she’s trying to explain me I just said let me get ready for school then they
told me you don’t have to go to school to day still not understand what’s really
going on them played the hole day with most of my cozen in the yard that day
the made a big fire in the yard burning that clothes in the back yard I didn’t
know that was the clothes she had on when they found her and everyone is crying
till my uncle told me my mother was murdered that’s what they mean it means we
never going to see her the only time we going to see her again is when we die
also . That’s when I asked him now what happened she was stabbed 37 times but
the fatal wound was in her leg “ die slag aar in haar been was tel veel vir
haar “ then she left us ..
The hole week our house was full
off family members and everyone kept crying and they were asking why I’m not
crying at that time I was think they just trying to scare me till the morning
of the funeral when I had a dream she was calling me to come with her and I
asked her where to running out after her in my dream after her .till we got
around the corner when I did see steps going out the clouds when I show that I
then shocked and froze in my steps .did wake up same time my ears was open but
no one can hear me coz I was shouting help, help but couldn’t move nor could
the words come out
Eventually my cozen shock me and
asked me are you okay I shouted at her coz it felt like very long I was laying
there trying to breathe why she didn’t help me
Then told my granny what happened
she was crying and told me don’t be afraid she was just saying good bye to you
its good you didn’t go with her we still need you here with us
I just remember everyone telling
me the whole day is the anything you need even if it’s not today don’t be
afraid to ask doesn’t matter even if it’s not today but whenever
Next week at school everyone was
so nice to me for no reason but I just thing they felt sorry for her there was
a girl in my class that living there at the flat where my mother was murdered
she explain me everything she heard my mother shout for help then she described
the seen to me she said she has never seen so much blood in her life on
everything her hands on the door even on the selling of the flat. that day the
there was a story in the daily sun newspaper I was find with the story in the
paper I was angry coz they didn’t write her name miss Yolanda April
That day I decided to train myself
to make sur that it doesn’t matter who I’m going to face I’m going to make sure
that I have all the needed skills to defeat him if ever I find him I’m going to
take my time and make sure that he feels all the pain she felt he shouldn’t die
just I’m going to take my time and make sure he knows what it feels like to
helpless he should beg me to stop but I wouldn’t and his going to explain me
why he did what he did .he didn’t even go to jail I just told myself its good
he didn’t go to jail coz I know GOD is keeping him outside for me so that I can
deal with him myself
I know his bigger then me but as
soon as I’m just a bit older I’m going for him his days are numbered …
In grade 3 the was this boy Nathan
he had a problem with me for no reason I think it was coz everyone was nice
with me and just for no reason every day beat me up for no reason till this one
day I decided enough is enough and I stabbed him with my colour pens all ten
and didn’t feel the need to stop home time I was on schooler patrol while I was
walking just felt a hard hit at the back of my head then blacked out woke up in
the office
Our teacher then was Mr Frost and
he didn’t believe in hitting children and we were fighting hole day the next
day but I think this day he just had enough as he sent for Mr Abram’s Cain and
told everyone that was fighting to come
to the front we were 8 boys and the first boy in the line was Gasant and told
him to put his head under the desk and just started hitting him and we all in
the line was waiting and counting how many cuts is he getting but the sir
didn’t stop then the was 4 boys in the line that ran Nathan was in the one of
the boys that ran that was the end of Nathan I was thinking coz only 1 of them
that ran came the next day with his parents the rest of the boys never returned
to school
About a year later there was a
story in the newspaper about Nathan there was a man hunt out for him he raped
and killed his friend mother and did try to destroy the body at the oval soccer
field by burning the body but didn’t succeed now his on the run they found him
about a month later then he went to jail I’m not sure how long he was sentenced
In grade 5 the teachers fused us
to dance the whole class coz in the middle of the year we had to be part of
something with the concert then they made me the lead dancer the song we were
danced to was the song by TKZ Bennie is 18 area I had so much fun there after
went for trills to play for Zicco boys soccer team and I made it our couch at
that time was Steven Pienaar and my post was goalkeeper or defender I didn’t
like the colours of the team green and gold same as the school colours jus very
ugly kappa kit
A year later I was sitting next to
a girl named Winnifred she was the smarts in the class and very quiet she
didn’t have a lot of friend so I was her friend she always had launch that was
cut into smiley faces coz she cheer her launch with me near end of the year the
car did bump her but instead of stopping the car tried to drive away but she
was hooked somewhere under the car so the car dragged her up the road then some
other guy jump in front of the car to bring the car to a stop at her funeral
her mother requested the face to be shown her face was very swollen I could not
sleep for long coz I kept seeing her face in my dreams that time I told myself
not to go look at the persons face at any other funeral .
At our far well dance in grade 7
there was this musk that was hanging from the roof in the hall in black and
gold but it was big all I could see was her face I could not bring myself to go
in the hall till the girl that explained
me about my mother’s passing begged me to have a slow dance with her coz it may
be the last time we see each other then went face my fear just making sure I
don’t look up but I did that time I was think how Winnifred parents must feel like now her daughter never
even started living but she is no longer with us then I was crying the hole far
well party
High school her I come my first
year at high school I just was hopping no one from my old school will be with
to tell anyone about what happened to my mother so that people don’t feel sorry
for me this time there was no smart phones or even mobile phones so we made music
with pencil’s on the desks more like just playing drums I was very good at this
I know as soon as any teacher left the class room the party would start
The 2nd year at high
school start of the year they printed out a list of the rules of the school
then I studied it looking for loopholes in there system there was so mush I had
to put it to the test then started testing h they can take before they gave you
a letter there was 3 different colours white means a warring yellow means they
need to see your parents before you are allowed back on school premises with a
week serpent ion red means they don’t need
you at school anymore that’s when I
started building a flip file off letters coz I had 3 friend our rotten at
school was come to school late just check are you writing a test then leave
after brake throw the hostel at the back of the school 1st go get
bread at the hostel then go lay at the oval soccer field till school is done
then leave home with the rest of the children like we were a full day at school
till end of the year when we got our reports all 3 of my friend didn’t pass and
I did past with the highest marks in the class made the class members think
that the teachers gave me special treatment by making me pass . So I had to
rewrite all my exams then I did and even got a better mark coz for me all the
staff that was in the exam’s was very easy for me
At this time I was I had to find
new friends and pick my subject I did pick business studies but all my teachers
made me believe that I’m too smart to pick that so they said science and maths
HG would be the only thing challenging for me plus it come with what I love to
do that’s draw they sold me with that one
Meanwhile at home every afternoon
after school one or two of my friend got beat up for no proper reason and would
laugh at him coz at home I had 36 friends more than 20 of them aren’t attending
school for some reason then I decided the only way no one is going to mess with
us is if we stand together son from today if the beat one of us up the beat all
of us up and you need to make sure that you are with us if someone or a group
did beat one of us up we are going for that group and there is no running if you
do run then when we are done you must make sure we don’t find you that run so
make sure when we fight you fight with us or you are going to be next who we
come for to beat up I know most of my friends was think that I don’t mean what
I say so one weekend while we were sitting on the corner this other group of
guys came to us and they just started smacking my friends till they got to me
then I said not me I’m not like them I’ll show you now then I went in my house
and took my pick stick with long needles at the end and did hit the leader of
this other group as soon as his friends swore that they ran and my friends gave
chase later that day they came back with more friends of them with a gun and
just fired shots in the air then I told my friend don’t run today me are making
a stand and throw them with bricks but in my head I know or was just hoping
they don’t have the guts to shot straight
There after we decided to name
ourselves the “HLV Hard Living Varados’ then I needed to find out what does it
mean then my granny explained me that how the hole names came up was two
friends that was in love with the same girl but she was naught and kept seeing
both of them and each guy felt the need to show the girl who is more dangerous
than the other all that people that stared this groups are died a long time ago
yet people are still fighting to date over a battle that most don’t even know
how about it came to be that they are now part of a group that’s more dangerous
than the next
So if I’m going to be part of one
of this groups I need to make my own plan from now no she is not raising a
gangster then I got my first job after school delivering beer to pubs around
